Perfect for anyone looking to enjoy fish without the guilt of deep frying.

Ingredients

2 whole mackerel (scaled, gutted, and cut into slices) or 4 mackerel fillets

1 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste

1 tablespoon bouillon (optional)

1 teaspoon curry powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon seasoned salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon white pepper

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon cooking oil (high smoke point oil preferred, like avocado or grapeseed oil)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Set the Air Fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.

  • Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine ginger and garlic paste, bouillon (optional), curry powder, onion powder, paprika, seasoned salt, black pepper, white pepper, thyme, parsley, lemon juice, and oil. Mix well to create the marinade.

  • Marinate the Mackerel: Coat the mackerel pieces with the marinade using your fingers or a brush. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2–3 hours for deeper flavor).

  • Arrange in the Air Fryer: Place the marinated mackerel pieces in the Air Fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overlapping to ensure even cooking.

  • Cook: Air fry the mackerel at 400°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even crispiness.

  • Serve: Remove from the Air Fryer, garnish if desired, and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

Spicy Variation: Add chili powder or cayenne pepper to the marinade for a kick of heat.

Different Fish: You can substitute mackerel with other fish like tilapia, snapper, or trout.

Citrus Twist: Swap lemon juice for lime for a different flavor profile.
