  • ½ cup grated cheese

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Filling:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until softened.
  3. Add ground beef, cooking until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Prepare the Pastry:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Lightly grease a muffin tray and line each cup with a puff pastry sheet, pressing it in gently.

Assemble the Party Pies:

  1. Spoon cooled beef filling into each pastry-lined muffin cup, filling about ¾ full.
  2. (Optional) Add frozen peas or grated cheese on top of the filling.
  3. Cover each pie with another piece of puff pastry, sealing the edges with a fork.

Bake:

  1. Brush the tops with egg wash (1 beaten egg + 1 tbsp water) for a golden crust.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.

Cool and Serve:

  1. Allow pies to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the tray.
  2. Serve warm with tomato sauce (ketchup) or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Friendly: Prepare the filling in advance and refrigerate for up to 2 days before assembling.
  • Customizable: Swap beef for lamb, chicken, or turkey, or add mushrooms and veggies for a vegetarian version.
  • Prevent Sogginess: Ensure the filling is cooled before adding it to the pastry to prevent a soggy base.
