Banana Bread Brownies are the ultimate treat you’ve been craving. Combining the moist, sweet richness of banana bread with the indulgent, fudgy texture of brownies, this dessert offers a whole new level of comfort food that will quickly become your favorite.

Ingredients

3 medium ripe bananas (Use overripe bananas for optimal flavor.)

1 cup sour cream (Greek yogurt is a great substitute.)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour (Swap for a gluten-free blend if desired.)

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup chopped walnuts (Can substitute with chocolate chips.)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

½ cup unsalted butter (for frosting)

2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)

¼ cup heavy cream (for frosting)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth. Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until fluffy and pale.
  4. Fold the banana mixture into the dry ingredients and carefully mix. Add the flour and walnuts, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick inserted into the center (it should come out clean).
  7. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before frosting.

Notes

Chocolate Chips: Instead of walnuts, use chocolate chips for a more intense chocolate flavor.

Dairy-Free: Swap the sour cream with a dairy-free yogurt alternative and use dairy-free butter for the frosting to make this recipe dairy-free.

Nut-Free: Omit the walnuts entirely or replace them with sunflower seeds for a nut-free version.

Spices: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the brownie batter for extra warmth and flavor.
