This Broiled Scallops recipe is a quick and delicious seafood dish with a golden-brown crust and tender, juicy center. Seasoned with garlic, paprika, and butter, these scallops cook in under 15 minutes, making them perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions. Serve them with pasta, rice, or fresh vegetables for a light yet gourmet meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh sea scallops
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the broiler to high and position the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
  • Pat dry the scallops with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Season the scallops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Mix melted butter with lemon juice and drizzle over the scallops.
  • Arrange scallops in a single layer on a greased broiler pan or baking sheet.
  • Broil for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the scallops are opaque and lightly browned on top.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with extra lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t Overcook: Scallops cook quickly—remove them from heat as soon as they turn opaque.
  • Thawing Tip: If using frozen scallops, thaw completely and pat dry before broiling for the best texture.
  • Side Muscle Removal: Check for and remove the small, tough side muscle before cooking.
