  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel bits or soft caramel, cut into small pieces
  • Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until creamy.
  3. Mix in eggs and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring until incorporated.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Drop cookie dough by tablespoon onto prepared sheets, spacing well.
  8. Press caramel bits into centers, cover with dough if needed.
  9. Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are firm.
  10. Cool on baking sheets 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  11. Sprinkle sea salt over warm cookies if desired.
