This **Chocolate Hazelnut Spread** is a rich, creamy treat made from roasted hazelnuts, cocoa powder, and maple syrup. Perfect for spreading on toast, pancakes, or enjoying with a spoon, this homemade spread is a healthier and indulgent alternative to store-bought versions.

Ingredients

1 cup hazelnuts

¼ cup cocoa powder

¼ cup powdered sugar

¼ cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Roast the Hazelnuts: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10-12 minutes until golden. Stir halfway through for even cooking. Let cool slightly.
  2. Remove the Skins: Place cooled hazelnuts in a clean kitchen towel and rub vigorously to remove the skins. Some skins may remain, which adds character.
  3. Blend into Hazelnut Butter: Transfer the peeled hazelnuts to a food processor and blend for 2-3 minutes until smooth hazelnut butter forms. Scrape down the sides of the food processor as needed.
  4. Add the Remaining Ingredients: Add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and salt to the food processor. Blend until smooth and well combined.
  5. Adjust Sweetness: Taste and adjust sweetness with more powdered sugar or maple syrup as needed. Blend to incorporate.
  6. Store and Enjoy: Transfer the spread to a clean jar or airtight container. Let it cool before sealing. Your homemade chocolate hazelnut spread is ready!

Notes

Dairy-Free Option: Use dairy-free powdered sugar for a fully vegan version of this spread.

Extra Flavor: Experiment with a pinch of cinnamon or hazelnut extract for extra depth.

Less Sweet: For a less sweet spread, reduce the amount of powdered sugar or maple syrup.
