Soft, chewy, and perfectly sweet, these Classic Rice Krispie Treat Squares combine gooey marshmallows with crispy cereal for the ultimate nostalgic snack. Easy to make and endlessly customizable, they’re a timeless treat loved by all ages.

Ingredients

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows (or 4 cups regular marshmallows)

3 tbsp unsalted butter

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

A pinch of salt (optional)

Cooking spray or butter for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir continuously until melted and smooth, about 3–5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt (if using).
  4. Add Rice Krispies cereal to the melted mixture and gently stir until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to press it evenly without compacting too tightly.
  6. Let cool for about 30 minutes at room temperature.
  7. Once set, lift out of the pan and cut into squares or rectangles. Serve and enjoy!

Add mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or M&M’s for a fun twist.

Drizzle with melted chocolate or caramel for extra indulgence.
