Coffee Chocolate Mousse is the ultimate dessert for chocolate lovers who enjoy a touch of coffee flavor. This indulgent treat is a velvety, rich blend of semi-sweet chocolate and smooth coffee, topped with a fluffy whipped cream finish.

Ingredients

1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 teaspoons instant coffee granules

2 tablespoons hot water

2 cups (480ml) heavy whipping cream, divided

3 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof mixing bowl, combine the chocolate chips, instant coffee granules, and hot water. Stir until the coffee dissolves. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  2. In a separate large bowl, add 1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Using an electric mixer, whip until stiff peaks form.
  3. Allow the melted chocolate to cool slightly, then gently fold it into the whipped cream using a spatula. Make slow, sweeping motions to keep the mousse light and airy.
  4. Divide the mousse into serving glasses or ramekins. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly.
  5. Just before serving, whip the remaining ½ cup of heavy cream and add a dollop on top of the mousse. Dust with cocoa powder or shaved chocolate for an extra fancy touch.

Notes

If you don’t have instant coffee, substitute espresso powder or freshly brewed strong coffee.

For a dairy-free version, replace heavy whipping cream with coconut cream.

For extra chocolatey flavor, add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder to the whipped cream.

Add 1 tablespoon of Baileys or coffee liqueur for an adult twist.
