Fig Glazed Skillet Chicken features juicy chicken breasts coated in a sweet and tangy fig glaze made with fresh figs, balsamic vinegar, and honey, cooked quickly in a skillet for a flavorful and elegant meal.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup fresh figs, sliced

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh thyme, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and slice the figs.
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add chicken breasts and cook for 6–7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Add sliced figs and cook for 2 minutes until softened.
  7. Pour in chicken broth, balsamic vinegar, and honey; stir and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
  8. Return chicken to skillet, coat with fig glaze, and cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  9. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh thyme if desired before serving.

Notes

Add sautéed spinach or roasted Brussels sprouts as sides.

Substitute fresh figs with soaked dried figs if fresh are unavailable.

Add red chili flakes to glaze for a spicy kick.
