Ingredients

1 box brownie mix (not prepared)

1 egg

5 ½ tbsp unsalted butter, melted

¼ cup milk

8 oz cream cheese, room temperature

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups powdered sugar

4 oz semi-sweet chocolate

¼ cup unsalted butter, cubed

16 oz Cool Whip, divided

Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 11×7-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine brownie mix, egg, melted butter, and milk. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared dish and bake for 25–28 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate and cubed butter in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the cream cheese mixture and stir until blended.
  7. Gently fold in 8 oz of Cool Whip to create the French silk layer.
  8. Spread this layer evenly over the cooled brownies.
  9. Top with the remaining 8 oz Cool Whip and garnish with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips if desired.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use homemade brownies for a richer base if preferred.

Chill overnight for the best texture and flavor.

Stabilized whipped cream can replace Cool Whip.

Add espresso powder for a deeper chocolate flavor.

Use a hot knife for clean, even slices.
