Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup milk

2 tbsp melted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

For the Topping:

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1 3/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the Cake Batter:

    • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

    • Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

    • Fold in chopped nuts if using.

  3. Transfer the Batter:

    • Pour the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

  4. Prepare the Fudge Topping:

    • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cocoa powder.

    • Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the baking dish.

  5. Add the Hot Water:

    • Carefully pour hot water over the batter. Do not stir.

  6. Bake:
