12 oz Sweet Vermouth

Orange peel, for garnish

Ice (preferably large cubes or a block)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Large Format Pitcher:

    • In a large pitcher or mixing vessel, combine mezcal, Campari, and sweet vermouth.

  • Stir:

    • Add ice to the pitcher and stir for 20-30 seconds, until well chilled.

  • Serve:

    • Fill glasses with ice and pour the chilled mixture into each glass.

  • Garnish:

    • Express the oil from an orange peel over the top and drop it into the glass for a citrusy finish.

Notes

Variations:

    • Less Bitter: Reduce the Campari or opt for a less intense vermouth for a smoother taste.

    • Smokier: Add more mezcal for an intensified smoky flavor.

    • Herbaceous: Enhance with a sprig of rosemary or thyme for a fresh twist.

  • Storage:

    • The mixture can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving.

  • Reheating:

    • This cocktail is best served cold and should not be reheated.
