Lasagna Garlic Bread combines two beloved comfort foods—garlic bread and lasagna—into a cheesy, savory treat. With a buttery, garlic-infused bread base, savory ground beef, marinara sauce, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar, this dish is the perfect twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

1 loaf Italian bread

1/2 cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup (50 g) parmesan cheese, grated

1 teaspoon garlic salt

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 pound ground beef

2 cups (514 g) marinara sauce, divided

1 cup (113 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided

1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar, shredded, divided

Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise into two halves and place it on the baking sheet.
  2. Prepare Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
    • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
    • Add 1 cup of marinara sauce to the beef and stir to combine. Simmer briefly, then remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
    • Top each bread half with the cooked ground beef mixture, then sprinkle over the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • For a golden, crispy finish, broil the bread for an additional 2-3 minutes until the top is slightly browned.
  5. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove the bread from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
    • Slice into pieces and serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Add Veggies: Try adding sautéed onions, mushrooms, or bell peppers to the ground beef mixture for added flavor and texture.

Spicy Kick: For a bit of heat, add red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture or sprinkle some on top before baking.

Cheese Variety: Experiment with other cheeses like provolone, gouda, or fontina for a different flavor profile.
