Parmesan Bunny Ears are a fun and savory snack that adds a whimsical touch to your Easter celebration. Made with puff pastry, Parmesan cheese, and dill, these crispy, cheesy treats are perfect for brunch, dinner, or as a fun party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Set your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture:

    • In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and dried dill weed.
  3. Roll Out the Puff Pastry:

    • On a lightly floured surface, roll the puff pastry sheet into a 12-inch square.
  4. Add Olive Oil:

    • Brush the entire surface of the pastry with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle Cheese Mixture:

    • Evenly sprinkle half of the Parmesan and dill mixture over the oiled pastry.
  6. Fold the Pastry:

    • Fold two opposite sides of the pastry towards the center, overlapping them slightly. Sprinkle the remaining cheese mixture over the folded pastry, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Form the Log:

    • Continue folding the sides towards the center, layering and pressing until you have a long, layered log.
  8. Slice the Pastry:

    • Trim ½ inch off each end of the log to create even edges. Slice the log into ½-inch thick pieces.
  9. Arrange on Baking Sheet:

    • Place the slices cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  10. Chill:

  • Refrigerate the slices for 25 minutes to help maintain their shape during baking.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 6 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip each piece, and bake for an additional 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  1. Serve:
  • Allow the Parmesan Bunny Ears to cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Herb Infusion: Add thyme or rosemary to the cheese mixture for a fragrant twist.
  • Spicy Kick: For heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the mixture.
  • Cheese Blend: Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or Gruyère for variety.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
