Patriotic Chocolate-Dipped Cherry Bombs are festive, bite-sized treats perfect for the 4th of July. Fresh cherries are dipped in rich chocolate and decorated with red, white, and blue sprinkles for a colorful and fun dessert that’s simple to make and delicious to eat.

Ingredients

1 pound fresh cherries with stems on

8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips

1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil

Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Optional: Red food-grade glitter or edible sparkle spray for extra shine

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cherries: Rinse the cherries thoroughly and pat them completely dry using paper towels. It’s important that the cherries are fully dry to help the chocolate adhere properly.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (or vegetable oil). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and glossy. Let the chocolate cool slightly so it is warm but not too thin.
  3. Dip and Decorate the Cherries: Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Hold each cherry by the stem and dip it halfway into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Optionally, dip some cherries fully for a visual variety. Immediately sprinkle the dipped section with red, white, and blue sprinkles, or dip it directly into a bowl of sprinkles. Place each decorated cherry onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Add Extra Sparkle: For cherries that remain undipped, lightly mist them with food-grade edible spray or brush a small amount of simple syrup on them. Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter over the dipped cherries to enhance their festive appearance and add extra sparkle.
  5. Set the Cherries: Refrigerate the tray of dipped cherries for about 20 to 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully set and is firm to the touch.
  6. Serve: Once the chocolate is set, your Patriotic Chocolate-Dipped Cherry Bombs are ready to serve! These sweet, festive treats are perfect for a 4th of July gathering or any patriotic celebration.

Notes

Ensure the cherries are completely dry before dipping them to help the chocolate adhere better.

If you prefer, use a different type of chocolate, such as milk chocolate or white chocolate, for a variation in flavor.

For an extra touch, sprinkle with red food-grade glitter or edible sparkle spray for added shine and festivity.
