Ingredients

For Dough:

1/2 cup warm water

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 teaspoon active dry yeast

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 cups bread flour

For Topping:

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 pinch salt

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

Fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped

1 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add softened butter, milk, and salt, then gradually add bread flour. Mix and knead for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • First Rise: Divide dough into two portions. Let it rest for a few minutes, then place in an oiled bowl. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.

  • Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix melted butter, salt, garlic, parsley, and Parmesan (if using).

  • Shape the Bread: Cut dough into small pieces. Dip each piece into the garlic butter mixture and arrange them in a loaf pan.

  • Second Rise: Cover the pan and let the dough rise for another 1 hour.

  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C). Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Finish: Brush the top with the remaining garlic butter mixture immediately after baking.
