Slow Cooker Golden Syrup Sponge is a cozy, comforting dessert featuring a fluffy sponge drenched in rich golden syrup sauce. Made easily with pantry staples and cooked gently to perfection in a slow cooker, it’s the perfect family dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Golden syrup

Self-raising flour

Butter

Eggs

Sugar

Milk

Baking powder

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker insert.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

  4. Fold in the self-raising flour, baking powder, and milk until just combined.

  5. Pour the golden syrup into the bottom of the slow cooker.

  6. Spoon the batter on top of the syrup without stirring.

  7. Cook on low for about 2 to 2.5 hours, keeping the lid closed.

  8. Once firm and golden, remove the insert and let it cool for a few minutes.

  9. Serve warm, spooning syrup over each serving. Add cream or ice cream if desired.

Notes

Add vanilla extract or cinnamon for extra flavor.

Substitute golden syrup with maple syrup or honey for variation.
