Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and spread melted butter evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, whisking until just combined (do not overmix).
  • Spoon batter over melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir or mix.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter.
  • Carefully pour hot water over the batter and sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown with a slightly gooey center.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and sprinkle over the hot cobbler.
  • Allow cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
