Ingredients

For the Dough:

1 tablespoon active dry yeast

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 tablespoon honey

1 and ½ cups hot water (100 to 110°F)

4 to 4 ½ cups bread flour

1 tablespoon powdered milk

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ tsp salt

2 large eggs, beaten

For the Filling:

8 caramel apple wraps

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 and ½ cups peanuts, chopped, or 8 Snickers bars, chopped

For the Topping:

½ cup fudge topping for ice cream

Instructions

  • Prepare the Yeast Mixture: Combine yeast, water, and 1 tablespoon sugar in a small mixing bowl. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes in a warm place until foamy. Stir in the honey once the yeast is ready.

  • Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add 3 cups flour, powdered milk, salt, and ½ cup sugar. Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix with a dough hook on low speed or by hand with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to form. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough pulls away from the bowl and is no longer sticky. If necessary, knead the dough by hand. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes, then cover with a towel and let rise.

  • Prepare the Pans and Roll Out the Dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan or two 8 or 9-inch pans with non-stick spray. Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 16×12-inch rectangle about ½-inch thick.

  • Add the Filling: Layer the caramel sheets, chocolate chips, and chopped peanuts or Snickers bars evenly over the dough. Cover the dough completely with the filling.

  • Roll the Dough: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly. Pinch the ends to seal. Slice the rolled dough into 12 even pieces using a serrated knife.

  • Bake the Rolls: Place the rolls in the prepared pans and let them sit for 5 minutes. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Add the Topping: Heat the fudge topping in the microwave and drizzle over the rolls. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Substitute for Snickers: If you don’t have Snickers bars, you can use any other candy bar like Milky Way, Mars, or Butterfinger for a similar texture and flavor.

Make the Dough Ahead: You can prepare the dough the day before, let it rise, and store it in the fridge overnight. The next day, roll it out, fill, and bake as instructed.

Frozen Dough Option: To make these rolls even easier, you can use store-bought frozen cinnamon roll dough. Skip the yeast step, assemble with the caramel and candy, then bake and top with the fudge sauce.

Adding More Crunch: For an extra texture boost, sprinkle chopped almonds, pecans, or walnuts on top of the filling or frosting.

Freezing Tip: Freeze the unbaked rolls for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, thaw overnight in the fridge and bake as directed, adding 5-10 minutes to the baking time.
