A bright, refreshing fruit dish made with sweet pears, tart pomegranate, and warm spices. Simple, elegant, and perfect as a light dessert or a colorful addition to a cheese board.

Ingredients

3 pears, peeled, cored, and cut into wedges

1 pomegranate, seeds only

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 tablespoons finely chopped almonds (optional)

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine pear wedges and pomegranate seeds in a medium bowl. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the fruit and gently toss to coat.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Garnish with chopped almonds and mint before serving, if desired.

Notes

Use orange juice instead of lemon for a sweeter citrus flavor.

Add cardamom or ginger for extra warmth.

Apples or persimmons can be used in place of pears.

Serve over yogurt, ricotta, or vanilla ice cream for added richness.
