Ingredients

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced

For the Noodles:

  • 8 oz (225g) egg noodles or rice noodles
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef:

  1. In a bowl, combine beef, soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil.
  2. Mix well and let it marinate for 15-30 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.

Cook the Noodles:

  1. Cook noodles according to package instructions, then drain and toss with a bit of oil to prevent sticking.

Stir-Fry the Beef:

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon oil.
  2. Add beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables:

  1. In the same pan, add bell pepper and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  2. Return beef to the pan and pour in the prepared sauce.
  3. Stir everything together and cook for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Combine and Serve:

  1. Add cooked noodles and toss until well coated.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Protein Swap: Use chicken, shrimp, or tofu instead of beef.
  • Vegetable Variations: Add snap peas, carrots, or mushrooms for more color and crunch.
  • Make it Spicy: Stir in chili flakes or sriracha for an extra kick.
  • Prevent Sticky Noodles: Toss with a little oil after cooking.
