Topped with creamy frosting and colorful sprinkles, they’re fun, festive, and easy to make—ideal for birthdays, holidays, or any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough: Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and cream cheese. Mix until smooth.
  • Add Dry Ingredients: Slowly add flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until a thick dough forms.
  • Bake: Spread the dough evenly in a greased 9×13-inch pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Make the Frosting: Beat together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Adjust milk to reach desired consistency.
  • Frost and Serve: Once bars are cooled, spread frosting evenly on top. Decorate with sprinkles, cut into squares, and serve.

Notes

  • Lemon Twist: Add lemon zest and juice to the dough and frosting for a fresh citrus flavor.
  • Chocolate Variation: Mix chocolate chips into the dough and top with chocolate frosting.
  • No Frosting Option: Skip the frosting for a less sweet option and sprinkle with sugar before baking.
