Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie is a rich, indulgent twist on the classic Southern pecan pie, with a buttery pecan filling and a chocolate swirl, perfect for special occasions and gatherings.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups pecan halves

1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or homemade)

¾ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup light corn syrup

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

For the chocolate swirl:

½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

¼ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie pan and place the pie crust in the pan, crimping the edges as desired.
  2. Spread the pecan halves evenly in the bottom of the pie crust.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour this mixture over the pecans, ensuring they are well-coated.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and melted.
  5. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pecan filling. Use a knife or spoon to gently swirl the chocolate into the pecan filling, creating a marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center. A toothpick inserted should come out mostly clean. Cover the crust edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 2 hours to allow the filling to set. Slice and serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

Add 1 tablespoon of bourbon to the filling for a deeper, more complex flavor.

Toast the pecans before baking to enhance their flavor.

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free pie crust.

Substitute dark chocolate for semi-sweet for a richer chocolate flavor.
