Banana Chocolate Rolls are a decadent dessert featuring ripe bananas, semi-sweet chocolate, and flaky puff pastry. Topped with crunchy nuts and powdered sugar, they make an irresistible treat perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 ripe bananas, sliced

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

1 egg (for egg wash)

2 tbsp chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent the rolls from sticking.
  2. Roll & Cut Puff Pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into 6 equal rectangles using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Fill with Bananas & Chocolate: Place a few banana slices in the center of each pastry rectangle, followed by a generous sprinkle of chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.
  4. Shape & Seal the Rolls: Fold the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges by pinching them firmly. Roll them into logs or fold into pockets.
  5. Arrange & Add Toppings: Place the rolls seam-side down on the baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg for a glossy finish and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
  7. Cool & Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, use plant-based puff pastry and a non-dairy egg wash made from plant-based milk.

Add a chocolate drizzle for extra indulgence after baking.

Omit nuts for a nut-free version or use seeds like sunflower or pumpkin seeds instead.
