Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
  • 1 jar hot fudge sauce
  • 2 packages instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 container Cool Whip (thawed)
  • 1 package Oreos (crushed)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cake:
    • Bake the chocolate cake according to the package instructions. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  • Add the Fudge:
    • Use a spoon to poke holes all over the cake. Warm up the hot fudge sauce and pour it evenly into the holes. Let the cake cool completely.
  • Prepare the Pudding Layer:
    • In a medium bowl, mix the instant chocolate pudding with milk. Before it sets, pour it over the cooled cake. Refrigerate the cake for about 20 minutes to chill.
  • Top with Pudding and Cool Whip:
    • In another bowl, prepare the second package of pudding mix with milk. Once the cake has chilled, fold in the Cool Whip and about 3/4 of the crushed Oreos. Spread this mixture over the cake.
  • Finish with Oreos:
    • Top the cake with the remaining crushed Oreos and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Flavor Swap: Use peanut butter, mint, or golden Oreos for a fun twist.
  • Gummy Worms: Add gummy worms for a classic “dirt” look.
  • Vanilla Pudding: Swap chocolate pudding for vanilla for a lighter flavor.
  • Make-Ahead: Can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
