These Twix Thumbprint Cookies feature buttery shortbread filled with creamy caramel and finished with a rich chocolate drizzle. They deliver the classic flavors of a Twix candy bar in an elegant homemade cookie.

Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks / 226 g) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar

1 large egg yolk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

20 soft caramels (about 140 g)

2 tablespoons heavy cream

4 ounces (115 g) milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

1 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil

Optional: Crushed Twix bars or chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Mix in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Add the flour and salt, mixing just until a dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Press an indentation into the center of each cookie and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. If needed, gently re-press the centers immediately after baking. Cool completely.
  6. Melt the soft caramels with the heavy cream over low heat, stirring until smooth. Spoon the caramel into each cookie indentation and let it set for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Melt the chocolate with the vegetable or coconut oil in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle or spoon the chocolate over the caramel.
  8. If desired, sprinkle crushed Twix bars or chocolate shavings over the chocolate before it sets.
  9. Allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Dark or semi-sweet chocolate can be used for a richer flavor.

Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the caramel for a sweet-and-salty finish.

Salted caramel works well as a substitute for regular caramel.

Decorate with white chocolate drizzle or festive sprinkles for holidays.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Freeze for up to 3 months with parchment paper between layers.

Bring refrigerated cookies to room temperature before serving for softer caramel.
